oregon appreciation post

It's been over two months since Mack and I took our long journey across the country and made Astoria, OR our new home. I am completely in love with this place and I often find myself wondering if it's all real. The Oregon coast is one of the most gorgeous places I've ever lived and I feel like I'm home again. We've done some exploring here and there. I've tried out a bunch of cute coffee shops, found some stores I love in the adorable downtown area, visited a couple of beaches, seen lots of deer & elk, established our favorite Mexican restaurant, visited the town I used to live in, done some camping, and watched some glorious sunrises & sunsets. I'm constantly blown away by the beauty here. There's this bridge we drive across on a regular basis and in one direction there are looming mountains and another is the precious town of Astoria perched on a hill and another is an epic bridge leading to the state of Washington. Every time I go across this bridge the view looks completely different somehow. Some days the mountains are barely visible because of the fog, some days they are crisp and look like they're closer than ever. I get this overwhelming feeling of awe pretty much every time and sometimes I even laugh and cry and shout and act like a crazy person because it makes me feel. There's also this place called the Column up at the very top of the hill the town sits on and the view is AH-MAZING. I've driven up there a few mornings where I had to take Mack to work (already sick of this whole one car thing) and gotten some glorious sunrise views. I don't generally like being up before the sun, but I have to say...it was totally worth it. I had some more of those shriek/cry/laugh moments up there and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Only very minute evidence of how amazing this place is. I almost want to keep it hidden because I don't want to share it, but that would be selfish. I wish I could even capture half of how beautiful all of these places were, but for now these photos will have to be enough. Now...who wants to come visit me?! Hehe.
